Art and Place Research Group at the Mary Potter Hospice, North Adelaide

During January and February, 2018, members and students of the Art and Place Research Group produced works on paper to be displayed at the Living Arts Gallery at the Mary Potter Hospice, North Adelaide. There was a curated theme: a favourite chair. Place can be within the scale of a region, a district, a street, a home, a room or even a chair. The various representations drew on our lived experience and fond memories. Therese Williams 's watercolour depicted an air mattress floating not eh surface of a swimming pool. Helen Sherriff presented two works, one being of her mother's chair and then her own. These works contain a great deal of detail within the representations of cushions, needlework and knee rugs. Often it is the staff who can be refreshed by the colours of the works, for their days must be stressful at times.
